prettyzombiegirlSo I've been reading some non-Hanfic lately which is good of me especially if I EVER expect to branch out of my comfort zone and write something else. I've been surfing around, checking out recs, and even digging through FF.net. I've come upon some interesting stories that I decided to share. Treasures beneath the cut.
Everlasting Twilight- [Tokio Hotel] fiction written by Misery Chastain. I am actually the beta for this story and it definitely inspires me to work on my own TH fic. Misery is a great writer and her attention to detail is something to be admired! I love how descriptive she is with her characters and scenery. I'm not into slash or M/M pairings usually but this is sooo good!
Diaries of a Firebird- [Kindred: The Embraced] fiction written by ROGsvgirl. I watched this show when I was younger, but I recently saw it again on the SciFi Channel. Apparently, they play it a lot and so I got hooked again. This story though is a crossover between Kindred and the Firestarter TV series I believe. I've never heard of the show but regardless this piece is REALLY good! I was impressed with this one, but unfortunately it took me a lot of sorting through bad summaries to find something interesting and well-written. I was ecstatic to come across this because it's the Firestarter chick/Cash pairing. Cash is my favorite character on the show and this author potrayed him slightly emo-ish but other than that it's good stuff!
Wonders Years List- Yup, so the majority of the fics on FF.net are pretty horrible. They're either written in like RPG/screenplay style or they make no sense whatsoever. There are only 13 listed, and maybe 3 of them are good. I only found a couple that I liked and it makes me want to write my own WY fanfic since I've been watching the show on DVD for the last couple of months. The rest of the stories are all post the series aka What happens to Kevin and Winnie?! *GASP!* I like the ones that add on to or "redo" episodes. That's pretty unique.
Deficient and Flawed... is right!- [Paranormal State] fiction which I don't even know why I looked up, but I'm pretty sure it was because I had a really hot dream about Ryan. Shhh! Don't tell my fiance he'll totally make fun of me because he HATES that guy! LOL! Anyway, I am regretting skimming through the PRS fanfics in the Pit. I couldn't even look at all of them I was so disappointed. It was all either crappy teenybopper Mary Sue wannabe bullshit or Ryan/Sergey slash *EWWW* and neither of those seemed to be written very well. The one I linked to was most humorous because it was so unrealistic and lame, but I had a good chuckle. I rec it just for the laughs.
Aly's TLB Fanfics- [The Lost Boys] fiction site that is so awesome! I LOVE the layout and I'm just now getting through Aly's Amy Chronicles which is pretty good so far. I haven't had enough time to read more TLB fiction lately, but I plan to soon. I recommend this site not only for the awesome design but for the fact that Aly's not even American and her English is pretty darn good! I'm excited to read more!
